What makes it a Family friendly bike?

Easy access, wide comfortable seat, safe with 3 speed control.

Built for beginners or if it a long time since you last rode a bike.

Learning to ride a bike or using a kick scooter seems to be nearly every child’s dream.

It is also a time when as a parent or grandparent we feel proud watching them master staying upright.
In the early stages holding on to them as they learn is not so difficult, the problem seems to be when they are able to ride it unassisted.
They want to go to the park or around the neighborhood, but how to keep up and protect them if you are not an athlete.

With so many stories of accidents because people in vehicles did not see children on bikes the anxiety increases.

In 2015 we designed and started manufacturing an electric-assist moped-style bike that has easy access to get on and off and has a comfortable wide seat.
We did have some people buy it from our distributor and use it to monitor their children while they were riding their bikes.

The feedback we got was, sometimes it was difficult to learn to ride the bike after so many years of not using a two-wheeler. Also, people were having trouble maintaining the low speed needed to follow the children or ride beside them.

Earlier this year we started working on finding ways to solve this problem.
While the bike can be ridden using the pedals, most people were using the throttle. Due to the power, small adjustments could increase the speed too much.

Armed with this information we designed a new controller for the bike using a three-speed system.

Setting one: Set to approx. 5 MPH as you learn to ride again, this helps to keep the bike under tighter control.
It helps keep decrease the response of the throttle making the speed more manageable.
Once you are confident riding and controlling the bike this setting allows people to pedal along with the bike at about 50/50% to get some exercise without straining themselves.
The setting also makes it easy to ride following the children or even to ride next to them.
You can adjust the speed with the pedals or the throttle, without the fear of taking off too fast.

It’s helpful in public areas where there is more chance of someone walking in front of you.

Setting Two is set to about 10 MPH.

Once you get used to the bike you can increase the speed gradually.
Once the children become competent on the bike they want to ride faster so you need the capacity to be able to keep up.
For many people, this is a very comfortable speed in public areas, neighborhoods or communities that don’t want you riding too fast.

Setting three is 20 MPH or full power.
When monitoring the people riding bikes there may not be many cases where you need full power except for going up steeper hills.
After you have been riding for a while there could be occasions where you want full power.

In addition to the three-speed the existing safety features such as turning indicators, Hydraulic Disk front brake, LED lights, double button horn to warn people you are approaching.
Makeing this bike perfect for people protecting the children learning to ride or for family outings.

The higher viability from approaching vehicles while riding behind the children that are learning may help save injury or worse.

Since there is no license required, no registration or insurance it is also an economically viable method of getting around. With the capacity of up to 300 lbs, it is built for everyone not just the athletes in the community.

Three Speed Control

We developed a 30% increase of  power in Evolts from Version one to version two.
As a result less experienced riders told us the electric assist has made the Evolts model harder to learn to ride or more difficult when using the bike at lower speeds.
There were requests for additional options when used by parents and grandparents monitoring children learning to ride bikes or scooters at slower speeds.
We listened to this feed back to make this a more family friendly bike.

As a result of the feedback we are introducing a three speed option with 5 MPH, 10MPH and 20MPH speeds available.
Setting one: Set to approx. 5 MPH as you learn to ride again, this helps to keep the bike under tighter control.
It helps keep decrease the response of the throttle making the speed more manageable.
The setting also makes it easy to ride following the children or even to ride next to them.
Setting Two is set to about 10 MPH.
Once you get used to the bike you can increase the speed gradually.
Once the children become competent on the bike they want to ride faster so you need the capacity to be able to keep up.
Setting three is 20 MPH or full power.
When you need full power going up steeper hills.
After you have been riding for a while there could be occasions where you want full power.
This will makes it a more family friendly bike and easier to control for many activities  lower speeds.

After feedback to have a speedometer with bigger digits that were easier to read, as a result we have now introduced the latest Digital speedometer.
It now has:

  • Clear display of the speed.
  • Larger display of the battery capacity remaining.
  • With a odometer to be able to monitor the total distance.
  • Large display that is easy to read day or at night.
  • It has indicator lights and high beam warning built in.

Battery Options

Evolts - L3 Family Series 5

More Lithium battery options

The Evolts-L3 model comes standard with a Silicon Gel battery. This is because we were advised the distances would be shorter and wusing slower speed, so there would be less battery usage.
Lower cost is also important for family groups in some cases.
The problem is the battery can be heavy for older people and ladies, so we have Lithium battery options.
For people wanting a lighter battery when they remove the battery from the bike we have 3 options.
The first is  a lithium battery equivalent to the silicon battery size, a medium option with about 40% longer range and the extended with about double the range.
The options are as follows:

1.  A 14ah lithium battery which is a lighter and slightly stronger version of the silicon gel battery.

2.   A 20 ah lithium battery that adds about 40% range from the silicon gel battery for people needing extended range.

3.   A 28 ah lithium battery that doubles the range from the silicon gel battery for people needing extended range or do not want to charge the battery as often.

** Please note the Lithium battery has approx double the life of the Silicon gel battery.

We have a table with approx range differences between batteries.
